Need a hand?

The short version

Touchward has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your settings and your counter stay on your device. Only two things ever leave it, both to our support inbox and both without anything that identifies you: messages you choose to send through the support form, and crash reports, which you can turn off in the app.

What the app stores on your phone

• Your settings: the button shape, colors, reward mode, haptic strength, hold timer, reminder and calendar nudge schedule, and the other switches in Customize, plus any looks and colors you save.
• Your counter: the number of rewards today and in total.

This is kept in the app's private storage on the device and deleted when you delete the app. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it under your own account with that company.

Phone features the app uses

• Haptics and vibration. The reward patterns play on your phone's vibration motor. On Android this needs the vibrate permission.
• Notifications, only if you turn reminders or calendar nudges on. Reminders and nudges are local notifications scheduled on the phone itself.
• Calendar, only if you turn calendar nudges on. The app reads the next seven days of your calendar to schedule a nudge when each event ends. Event details are used at that moment on the phone to create the notification and are never stored by the app or sent anywhere. The app never writes to your calendar.
• Push notifications, only if you turn them on. Your phone gets a push token from Apple or Google so it can receive notifications sent from outside the app. The token is shown to you in the app; it is not sent to us unless a build is configured with a registration address, in which case only the token, platform, device model, and app version are sent.
• Volume buttons, only if you opt in. While the app is open, either volume button can count as a tap. Nothing is recorded beyond your counter.
• Apple Watch, if you have the watch app. Your phone sends the watch your look and reminder schedule over Apple's on-device pairing, and the watch sends back a count of taps. This stays between your own devices.
• The link touchward://reward. Opening it fires a tap. It carries no data and nothing is logged.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, it sends a report to support@touchward-dopamine.com so we can fix the problem: what went wrong (the error and where in the code it happened), the app version, your phone model and operating system version, and the app's own settings at the time. A report never includes your name, contact details, calendar contents, notification text, or anything you typed. Reports are emailed to us through our website's server and kept in that inbox; nothing is shared with any third party for analytics. You can turn crash reports off at any time in the app under Customize, More, Support. Separately, Apple and Google offer their own crash reporting to developers, which only applies if you opted in on your device in your system settings; we see those reports in Apple's and Google's developer tools, without any identity attached.

The support form

The form inside the app sends what you wrote, the topic you picked, your phone model, and the app version. It asks for no email and no name, so we read every message but cannot reply. The form on this website works the same way, with one optional email field: leave it empty and we cannot reply; fill it in and we use it only to answer you. Either way the message goes to our support inbox by email and stays there until you ask us to delete it.

What we do not do

• No account or sign-in, so the app itself never collects a name, email, or password.
• No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs, in the app or on this site.
• No location, contacts, camera, microphone, photo, or health access. The app does not request them.
• No in-app purchases and no data sold or shared with anyone, for any purpose.

The app stores

You buy Touchward through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those companies handle the purchase and may collect their own data, such as payment details, download counts, and the crash and usage data described above, under their own privacy policies. Apple also sends us an automated notice when a purchase is refunded; it carries a transaction identifier and the storefront country, not your name or email, and we use it only to keep our records straight. Refund requests go to the store, not to us.

This website

The site is static and sets no cookies. It has no analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google's servers; Google's privacy policy applies to that request. The support form and crash reports pass through our website's server on Cloudflare, which processes them to deliver the email and does not keep a copy beyond its ordinary operational logs.

Children

Touchward is suitable for all ages. The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13. Crash reports and support messages contain no personal identifiers unless someone types them into the support form.

Deleting your data

Delete the app. That removes your settings, saved looks, and counter. If you have written to support, or want crash reports that came from your device removed, email us and we will delete them from the inbox.

Open source

The app's source code is public at github.com/situatedstrategies/touchward, so every claim on this page can be checked against what the app actually does.

Changes

If we change what the app does with data, we will update this page, change the effective date at the top, and note it in the app's release notes on the store. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.

The app

Touchward is provided by Situated Strategies LLC. The store version is licensed to you, not sold, under the App Store or Google Play terms that applied when you bought it, for use on devices you own or control that are signed in to your store account. The source code is separately available under the MIT License on GitHub; that license governs the code, not the store purchase.

Purchases

Touchward is a one-time purchase. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. Pricing, billing, taxes, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. We cannot issue refunds directly.

What it is and is not

Touchward is a sensory reward button: it vibrates when you tap it. It is not a medical device, a treatment, or a substitute for professional care, and it makes no health claims. Use it in the spirit it was made: a small, pleasant buzz for having done the thing.

Warranty and liability

The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Situated Strategies LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or this website. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
